Shumaq was founded just four years ago by Peruvian sisters Vanessa and Jacqueline Barrantes, both of whom share a love for fashion and their heritage. In Quechua, the indigenous language of Peru, Shumaq means beautiful, and it is meant to not only describe the fashions themselves, but the way they are made.

An eco-friendly and socially responsible brand, Shumaq designs are handmade in Peru by women artisans who would otherwise have no opportunity towards education or independence.

Peruvian textiles and embellishments accentuate Shumaq’s chic,
concontemporary designs in a way that makes each piece truly unique.
Since debuting in 2005, Shumaq designs have graced numerous runways,
been featured in magazines such as Lucky, Domino, Teen Vogue and Elle,
and adorned boutiques across the globe.
